ISSUE 5 ON THE MAY 6th BALLOT

This is NOT a Tax Increase

On January 27, 2014 the Parma City School District's Board of Education voted to place a 3.7 mill operating levy on the May 6th ballot.

Issue 5 is a RENEWAL, not a tax increase, and will help keep educational needs like textbooks, technology and learning materials.

Issue 5 was first approved in 1985 and produces $7.6 million annually to support general district operations.

Our schools are fiscally responsible and have already saved millions in operating costs through redistricting and consolidation. Our entire district, from Superintendent to teachers, staff and students, continually look for ways to save money and operate more efficiently.

Issue 5 ensures our students have a high-quality curriculum, up-to-date textbooks, and technology. Passage means we can keep programs our students need to succeed in their futures.

Our district lost $17.4 million in state funding; funding that is not likely to return. We've stretched every dollar and this renewal is essential to the continued success of our 11,200 students.

A strong school system is critical to the future of Parma, Parma Heights and Seven Hills. The quality of our schools impacts local property values, and helps make our communities more desirable for families and businesses.

Again, ISSUE 5 is not a tax increase. On May 6th or early by mail, please remember to vote.
